Assumptions

I was talking today to a fellow cyclist who wrongly made the assumption that just because i ride old retro steel bikes that i would not be able to afford the same make and model mid range bike he has just ordered .

What assumptions have you suffered ?

Pedestrian crossing road today shouted at me that red lights apply to bikes too. It took a few moments to register what she had said but I turned around and tried to find her as I wanted to (nicely) explain the light was green. But couldn't find her so it's still bugging me now.

I've had a career, more than one in fact, but at 55 being a porter suits me just fine. At times, people do speak slowly to me though, giving me good time to assilimate the complex request of "Trolley in cubicle 9 please"........

That's very much a school boy error, was he very young?

We all make some assumptions but I usually like to keep what I can and can't buy under the radar.

Not sure of his age but mid 40's

That I'm fit (read that in what sense you will).

That I'm interested in staring mostly at tarmac.

That I don't know how to take my bikes apart.

What assumptions have you suffered ?

That I give a fark what other cyclists have to say. Often they’ll start talking, assuming that 1) I care at all, 2) I agree merely because I’m cycling

That I know where I’m going and what I’m doing.

That there is justice in the world.

That because I ride a bike, I’m not insured against accidents.

That I understand FTP, power output, wattage, VO2 max, normalised power, variability index, Training stess score..................etc

or that I want to do anything other than ride my bike!
