Any cover Lissie does, her version of "go your own way" was hollow and tuneless, completely sucked the life from a fantastic tune.
ellie goulding has a habit of doing the same.

here's one that'll cause controversy. Johnny cash doing Hurt.
lets be clear, i love johnny cash, and he's made a living of doing fantastic covers, but this song. just no. trent's original piano solo version is all that's needed.

At first I hated Johnny Cash's version, but when you watch it with the accompanying music video it gives the song a whole new meaning. Beautiful version IMO, and one of which Trent approves. You might want to have a re-listen to the original version, definitely not a piano solo - maybe you're thinking of it performed live?

As far as atrocities go, Leona Lewis' version of the song is absolutely dreadful.

To be fair, I think Roger Waters should do a 25 minute dirge on the Scissor Sisters 'I don't feel like dancing' (or whatever it was called).
Yeah, I can imagine that... I don't feel like dancing because I'm slowly loosing my marbles, and a nuclear apocalypse is immanent.... so that's why i don't feel like dancing

original was a piano solo layered into a full on piece, i've seen the cash video, it adds to it certainly but musically the original still sounds better imo.
but then that's just my opinion

Following on from the thread about poor remakes of films, I have been having similar thoughts with some "new" music that is around.

First up George Michael - and his new song Let Her Down Easy

Not a bad version of a lovely song. ..
....until you hear the original !

Just perfect as it was- Leave it alone!
Makes George Michael's look like a bad x factor contestant.

The there is Cliff and Engelbert - who between them should really know better
(sorry but this is the only vid of the song on youtube)

Again OK but why not just listen to the far better original!
