... but it keeps telling me i havnt completed the boxes for registration! damn annoying. I have logged in using my hotmail account which it is happy with. does anyone know another way of getting a trial?

i use openoffice but toh wants to have a look at word as cannot get OO to work in the same way. i have to agree it doesnt cross format very well from OO to word docs always seem to change the formatting.

They make you jump through all sorts of hoops just to register which ever way to get a Beta copy of Office, it really is a pain. Then they send you periodic e-mails in a range of different languages.

I don't remember any problems using my Hotmail account, which could be down to age or down to there not being any problems.

I nearly always save as .rtf. Any document with fancy text which doesn't work in .rtf is probably too fancy for itself anyway and simplification will make the document better. ;)

I've noticed a few agencies get funny about .rtf files, they'll only allow .doc or .docx. Strange given the relative risk of problems.

It's all about buzzwords Norm, Office formats rule because most don't know any different. They know what .doc is and gradually became aware of .docx, .rtf I bet they have never heard of. If you want really simple, go with .txt  My first cv to be stored on a computer was in .txt and printed with a dot matrix, nice.

I think they make it difficult without Hotmail. Any trials or extras I download is all linked into my hotmail account, it keeps it simple I suppose.

edit: just reread the post, do you mean it fails even though you are logged in via hotmail? If so, try deleting all cookies and temporary internet files, close and open the browser and try again. What browser are you using? try it with IE if not alrady doing so.

hi all it has started this am, strange i did the classic IT request and turn it off and on again yesterday but it wouldnt open the page. but it is downloading now.

Savagehautkop..OO i like but my other half was trained in all MS suite and does find the slight change to OO annoying and to be fair it does seem that there are things Word will do that OO doesnt. she brings work home and she uses Word in her jobs so i will get word at home for her
