Audible - any good?

Anybody in here use Audible? I spend a lot of time commuting and gradually getting bored of the Radio, and the podcasts i usually listen to dont seem to release as often as they used to.

Signed up today to a free trial for 30 days with Audible, but as far as i can see, you only get 1 book a month, which obviously isnt a lot for my 2 hours a day driving.

Any views? Any Good? or should i just get rid after my free 30 days?

Is this for "books" to listen to while you are driving ?
I am the last one to preach but does that not sound dangerous?
Radio on......its just background noise but with a book I would have thought you need to concentrate.
As I say..... not preaching, just a viewpoint.

I ended up with Amazon prime for a year when I forgot to cancel my free Audible trial, but other than that I thought it was really good.

I'm in agreement here, to enjoy the book you need to be listening, if you're listening then are you really concentrating on the driving? Assuming that is you're driving & not on train/bus etc. With the radio on I tune in & out (no pun intended) as I drive as the situation allows.

Is that any different to listening to a radio play or say The Archers? I listen to talk radio a lot and work quite happily while following a plot or story.

Even listening to a discussion on Womans Hour while driving I can do. Quite a talent I think.

Fully agree with you. I tend to just listen to music so it washes over. But I have also listened to chat shows which I can "half listen" to but I dont see how you could do that with a book/story.
Again, I would point out that I am not judging here.

I think it is, but having never actually tried it, it just feels to me to get the best from the story you would need to actually listen to it, but I take your point about a play.
