Anyone see the aurora last night?

I got a red alert from Aurora Watch and rushed outside but could only see a faint red glow to the north. However, there are some stunning images on Twitter.

BBC was reporting this morning that you could see it as far south as Doncaster, although in Doncaster it was easy to confuse it with the glow of burnt out stolen cars....

There's no point looking round here. From the beach looking north there are loads of lights that get in the way.

One day I'll be lucky & I'll be on Shetland when they put on a show - it gets proper dark up there.

Oh yes, I remember those! I still have my albums all boxed up somewhere on the loft. I think they stopped doing the cards somewhere in the mid-to-late 1980s. Mum was a district nurse, and her patients used to keep the cards for me.

Saw it a few times on a cruise round Norway. If anyone really wants to see the Aurora I reckon that's about the best way. You get another cruise free if it doesn't appear.

My wife reckons she saw something last night - she has better eyes for it than me - but I didn't see anything. It's fantastic when you do see it.
