Autumn: an underrated month

Errrr.....
Riding home this evening I was struck by how much I was enjoying my commutes at the moment. There's been far more dry weather than the summer gave us, and it's extremely pleasant cycling in these temperatures. Lovely warm morning today, but even if it's nippy an extra layer and your good to go. No worrying about melting from heat or fingers and toes dropping off from cold. The route near work goes through some nice countryside, so it's been good watching the season turn, and feeling the slight drop in temperature as I ride out of town into the valley.

Autumn cycling -recommended!

And let's be honest - summer only lasted a couple of days this year!

Not sure about pleasant this morning. It was weird and quite close at 7:15 here. And my hi viz jacket made me feel like I was trapped inside a balloon.

But, I agree in general- coming home was lovely and clear ;) Got to enjoy the countryside without melting!

Don't like the low sun in the morning at this time of year. Don't like the transition from day to night on my way home.
Other than that Autumn is a great month (or three).

I've been much slower on the ride to work the last few days 'cos I get to go down a bridleway for a couple of miles with a row of trees of various sorts running the whole way along: the variety of colours lit by the rising sun is simply stunning and I find myself just coasting along admiring it.

I'm just an old tree hugger at heart.

It is nice atm and, also with the cooler temperatures good to arrive at work not absolutely soaked in sweat.

I too am not keen on the low sun in the mornings, especially since I lost my really good sunglasses somewhere!

However, I too love the autumn and enjoy my commute more than too. I think that the traffic fumes are loads less too in this sort of weather.

I have to say though that although the summers have been rubbish over the last couple of years (since I bought my convertible) the autumns have been great - nice warm days in October are to be enjoyed just as much as July I think. This Sunday for instance was beautiful - just wish I had not been stuck in the house decorating!!

Thats part of the joy of it, seeing things slower and without glass all around, you get the smells and see animals.

I can cope with anything the weather throws at me, I can cope with darkness, if they could just get rid of all the bloody vehicles it would be perfect, even on the single track road I have to watch like a hawk for some knob flying along at 40, they look so suprisped when something comes the other way.
