The "Avalon Sunrise 400" starts on the Friday night closest in the
calendar to the summer solstice, June the 22nd.

The start point is a pub on the Blackdown Hills near Taunton. At pub
closing time the riders will leave. Through the night they will ride
along the north Devon coast and then see the dawn on the Somerset levels.

Next, it's through Frome and Bath. Then up the Bristol-Bath cyclepath.
It would be silly to not visit Wales so there's a quick trip across the Severn Bridge.

A little bit further north and east to the village of Wotton Under Edge. Then back to Frome and back to Taunton

This a long way to ride but it isn't a race. The challenge is to complete
the course in less than 27 hours.

Over 20 people have entered (it's not a Sportive ^_^) and I can now confirm that the entry fee of £10 (£12 non members) should include stuff from a pub BBQ at the end. Basic camping is allowed in the field next to the pub.

If you want to enter easily, the cut off is Friday the 7th of June - that's next week

It is possible to enter after this date but you'll have to mess about with emailing me, bringing forms and change to the line etc etc.

Yes, I have now entered. Mr Vorsproing sent me a confirmation.

Just back home with a weary Chuffy after stamping cards at arrivee, some of the weather was loverly, some was not - lots of bits of tree down on the way home. Overall the finishers seemed damp, but fairly happy.

That was epic: flooded lanes, torrential rain, gusting winds - not the event, but the ride home afterwards. Fortunately only 11 miles.
