AVerage cadence query (probably a case of how long is a piece of string)

Its going to be difficult to actively train with lower HR and cadence drills with such gradients- unless you have gearing on your bike/bikes that allows to bring your efforts uphill into Z2 whilst spinning.

That's why I prefer and predominantly do all my specific training, indoors and leave easy fun riding outdoors. I'm doing a Zwift recovery ride this morning- recovering from Covid, I will post my stats when finished- I'll edit this post with them.

My computer doesn't ignore the 0 cadence parts when averaging.

Mine doesn't appear to either

Here you go FrothNinja.

As they say picture paints a thousand words. I recorded my ride, so you can see what I get upto for riding indoors, this is my recovery. After about 40 mins I dropped my cadence to lower my HR-I didn't want to push it after COVID last week.

You can watch, if you wish, then ask any queries :okay:

Did a ride to cadence (I think) at lunch time - aimed at keeping it around 70 to 80 - and I have set my edge to include the 0s. I found it an exercise in mental discipline not to clunk it into a stiffer gear and ride like normal. I will do the same run later today or tomorrow but just doing it 'normally' and see if there is much of a difference.
I stuffed up the recording so it ended up in 2 bits, but here are the two sets of stats

I'm finding it tricky to do 70/80s and keep it in Zone 2

Just done a slightly longer version of yesterday's lunchtime ride but at my 'natural' cadence. There are differences, my cadence is quite a bit lower.

Can you get off & walk if it's too steep?

If I had a treadmill linked ;)

I shouldn't have tried to hold power given how warm it was today. Heart rate numbers went out of the door. I began to crumble with 3 turns to go. Way out of practice for these endurance events.

Unlike the real climb, it's get slightly cooler the higher you go :heat:

Today's lunch run results, tried upping the average cadence. Spinning quicker in the lower gears made my knees hurt and the ride was very bouncy so I did the last 75%ish in a stiffer gear which helped a huge amount with the knees but seems to have upped the heartrate.
Question - I have set my edge to count the 0 rpm bits in the averaging, does it also add in the times when I am stationary??
