Total time for 100km might be more informative than riding time.

30 min tea stop is all we stop for at about 2/3 distance.

I'm happy with where I'm at and enjoy every minute of being out on my bike. I suppose I was just after a little self reassurance that I'm doing okay, That all the effort going in is having a positive effect. The cycling in itself is rewarding enough but there is always a little element of doubt that if we were to go riding with other regular cyclists not in our little group we would be out of our depth.
I hate to think that if/when me and the good lady decide to do a few weekend cycling holidays we would be the ones holding things up at the back.
My fitness, health and weight have all benefited from the cycling and long may it continue.
Cycling is my hobby and I love it to pieces regardless of how fast and how far I can go but it doesn't hurt to know.

Recorded average times/speeds never give a true reading of your ability just the time it took due to the road conditions you had to endure. If the journey wasn't interrupted by having to drop from 20mph to 10mph due to the slow moving traffic, the traffic lights, the breaking when idiots step out without looking, the car door opening that makes you hit the breaks etc etc your recorded time/average speed would give a true reflection of your ability! Well that's my excuse anyway!

I ride with a small group of older cyclists around the Whitby area and we tend to ride 20-30 miles in hilly terrain mostly on hybrids. Depending on wind (and we get a lot of it) our average speed is between 10 & 13 mph, so we are a long way behind the OP when it comes to averages. Having said that we enjoy our cycling (and rambling expeditions) immensely and hope to continue to do so as long as we are able.

People are in such a hurry nowadays. No time to think and reflect. Take it easy and enjoy the scenery.
