I have it on my pc and no probs.
I tried to put it on my Laptop and 2 errors appear every time.

most antivirus must have service packs up to date before they will install. You can download the program but it will fail to install

Thanks, guys for the advice. Tried them all at some time to no avail.
However, success has come my way.
I read today that Microsoft has a free beta Anti virus prog. I got the address and it downloaded first time and seems to be a success.
If anyone wants the address ask and I'll post it.
Thanks again.

For some reason I found it easier to install it through here

but that was some time ago.

Why this obsession with free software, when most of us have data on our PCs which is worth £00s if not £000s in time or money? Over the years I have wasted a large chunk of my life fiddling about with slow, clunky or downright useless products. The £25 I finally spent on Kaspersky in January was worth every penny.

Things is decent products like Nod32 and Kaspersky tend to come after the suggestions for crap, clunky, downright useless and even more expensive products. Products such as Norton & McAfee have the high street market sown up, despite being almost malware like in their abilities.

After that experience, I am not suprised that people do not want to pay more good money after bad if they do not have to.

You've got to have done some research or got good advice to come up with Kaspersky Sophos or Nod32...and they are very good at what they do.

Never has a problem with AVG meself. It just works, and I've installed it on a few PCs.
Got it running on 1 laptop and 2 netbooks right now...

funny that.;)

I installed AVG on a freshly formatted drive yesterday .

I uninstalled it today after dozens of sudden crashes in Firefox (lasterst version)

No idea why but uninstalling AVG cured the browser crashes instantly.

I am running XP Pro with all service packs installed Friday from a formatted drive.

Fine, but trust me the "Microsoft security essentials" software is very good, free and as it's Microsoft, compatible with most things.
