Hello!
Does anyone know if Avid BB 5 brakes (160 mm rotor) can be fitted to post-disc forks? Do I need an adapter?
Thanks!

I have BB7's on my mountain bike, if I recall correctly, I bought the kit that was appropriate to my mount - if you look on chainreaction or wiggle, you should be able to choose the kit for the set-up you need. If they only have IS mount kits, you can buy an adaptor cheaply.

I've just fitted my BB7's(160mm rotor) to a post mount bike and they just went straight on, as long as the post mounts are 74mm standard then I would have thought no adaptor necessary.

MacB, does your brake mount look like this? http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=59438
Thanks XmisterIs, I'm based in London, I'm going to try to fit it as is if it doesn't work I'll give you a shout.

yep, but for the post mount you ditch the black bracket thingy and the caliper mounts straight to the frame via the bolts with all the spacers on. As far as I know the bracket bit is used to work between frame IS mounts and caliper, so caliper mounts to bracket and then bracket mounts to frame from side. The bolts on the caliper are 74mm apart, at least on mine, and mount directly into the frame post mounts, still with the little stack of spacers. Here's a poor piccy, I'll try and take a better one if need be:-

perhaps easier to see here's a piccy of the frame itself:-

that's what I understand post mount to be, ie no adaptors, but I am quite new to disc brake stuff
