Update.I have now stopped using Southwark Bridge and am now back to using London Bridge.

Southwark Bridge is always a mess.

I've been off the bike for a year due to a couple of (non-cycling related) operations, but Southwark Bridge has always been the easiest bridge for me to get to.

So back on the bike today, I cycled north over Southwark Bridge today at 06.45 - the cycle lane was all clear, with the only issue being that the traffic is filtered briefly into one lane just ahead of the lights (but still 3 lanes at the lights I think).

Seemed perfectly straightforward to me ... but didn't notice anything on the southbound route, so maybe that is worse ...

No prob I use London Bridge Inward and Waterloo Bridge homeward now.

I used to cycle the London Bridge way about twenty years ago and at the end where it turned onto Southwark Street seemed to be miles to Waterloo but the route is better for me and cuts the commute distance down.

Going the Southwark Bridge route is a poxy route and Lower/Upper Thames Street is a crap road also.

Welcome back on the road.;)

Yeah, i've given up using the cycle lane at the north end of Blackfriars. Even when it is open, there's a nasty barrier at the end - throws you back into the traffic a bit sharpish for my liking. Much safer to stay in the "proper" road in primary, like it's been said already.

Personally, I've never had a problem with Blackfriars Bridge (North end). Just hang back a bit if there's a scrum at the lights and filter into the traffic (in primary) until I've got past the cycle lane. Tend to see people getting irate and trying to overtake - just after the north end of the bridge really isn't the best place for it (especially now). I try to wait till i'm over the Strand and burn it past Smithfields - there's a nice wide bus lane that's usually clear-ish.

Blackfriars I tend to go very Primary as I turn right at the North End,more defensive South End depending on circumstances.

Generally I use Waterloo Bridge homeward bound as I find the route a hell of a lot of fun and a bit different. That bridge and riding up to St Pauls has it all.I love the two pinch points.I take it they are supposed to slow the traffic down?

I tend to go on the right before the Waldorf hotel and cross to the left when possible to get me down to Fleet Street. It;s a lot of fun cabs busses and limo's everywhere at times.

Blackfriars Bridge is a mess at the North End.
