I've just got some cycling trousers,nice lightweight material but cycle specific so cut well,velcro on ankles to stop the bottoms getting caught in chain etc,and look ok off the bike too.
Am waiting for a merino base layer and some baggy cycling shorts for when/if it warms up a bit.

It doesn't have to be expensive - you can pick up stuff for cheap if you look for it.

Yep, wicking but marketed at walkers rather than cyclists. Seems a hell of a lot cheaper than cycling clothing. Why is cycling clobber so expensive? I mean... £100+ for a lightweight jacket???, £50 for a pair of shorts???.......

Yep, wicking but marketed at walkers rather than cyclists. Seems a hell of a lot cheaper than cycling clothing. Why is cycling clobber so expensive? I mean... £100+ for a lightweight jacket???, £50 for a pair of shorts???.......

yeah some running or walking stuff is good- I'd say that a decent budget for a cycling jacket is worth it mind you for windand waterproofness and breathability and some things I would fork out for- but not some of the basics. The cut might be different on walking/running gear ie less material for the back area when you're bent over on the bike - cycling wear is cut slightly longer in the back for this reason but it's not a big deal if you dress properly
