I missed the original and ended up buying each series, as a boxed set of videos, watching them and then selling them on. Sold them on Yahoo auctions so it was quite a while ago. Plenty of duff/filler episodes but the underlying story was quite good. My desktop background is a scene from the Shadow Wars, and has been for years. I'm recording the series on FX.
