As per title. Based near Caen, doing day rides here and there for the week. Had forgotten just how good it is cycling over here. Completely different attitude towards cyclists, and proper infrastructure.
Day 1 after the overnight ferry was just local pottering.
Day 2 took a train to Carentan then cycled to Caen via Normandy beaches (strong westerly wind!).
Day 3 today, plan to cycle to Lisieux.

Glad to be able to do this as there was a 2 year period when I thought this was a thing of the past. Was struggling with any cycling beyond a few miles but then after many tests (and 6 month waits between each one) was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma. Was given 2 inhalers to use, and the result was instant relief. Have some fitness to regain and weight to lose but otherwise all good!

Some pics which will be added to (internet connection allowing)....

Nice one chap. I look forward to further trip reporting. Great to hear about your health too.
Cycling in France is fabulous. The UK doesn't even come close.

Nothing much worthy of posting on the photo stakes today. But here's the Caen to Lisieux ride (return by train ).....

Garmin link.

Having a rest from the bike tomorrow; heading to Rouen by train to meet up with a pal from home who is on holiday in Paris this week. Food and wine will be had, so need to burn that off on Thursday!

Yesterday was mainly local exploration. Today has been very warm and sunny so I went to Deauville (actually still there as I type).

Garmin link.

Getting the train back as this is my last day. Want to get back for a shower then head out for a last meal in France before the dreaded return trip home tomorrow. It has been great, and many thanks to cycle.travel and its founder @Richard Fairhurst for making route planning so simple. Without that and Garmin, I would never have seen so much.

Strange combination of miles and metres on your Garmin link

Stopped there and then took the path along the water up to the ferry terminal.
Amazing value, a set menu lunch, at Ouistreham, the restaurant, bar on the corner. A bottle of nice white did help it all along .
The cycle back to our base was helped by the anaesthetic effect.
That was my Wednesday, I think.
