O.k, so its not a great admition, but for a multitude of reasons (most of them jolly's like xmas and holidays) I've not actually commuted on chitty since around the beginning of December...I think i did one run around xmas from memory...

I was planning a run in yesterday but....didn't

So, in preperation, I dusted off my gear last night, packed my ruck-sack, pumped chitty's tyres and was all set for this morning ...and...MAN, how out of shape am I!!!!

Shocking, I ache all over (even my head) and I have this "hollow" rattly feeling in my chest, like all the crap from the last few weeks has been "sucked" out of it and replaced with clean, healthy ..and very cold ....air.

As you can guess, I'm really looking forward to the 20 mile run home.......sigh.

Oh well, at least by the end of the week I'll be back in some sort of shape.

Probably puddle shaped.

Glad to have you back on the pages Jonny, even if a former shadow of yourself.
Commuting just hasn't been the same without your stories of humour, we've all gotten a bit grouchy with our 'positioning' round these parts.

You'll get back into it but it is bloody freezing out there!

Before I start my holiday in mid dec, i left the gears on the one I normally start off with.

when i finished my holiday a few weeks ago. I got on to my bike, damm... it was so hard to peddle...
so I had to lower the gears and I'm on the middle chainring at the moment.

Sometimes I recon middle chainring makes me trip faster!

I'm suffering too. Couple of weeks off due to the weather, hen a few days back before another lay off because I was on holiday (Mrs Vike wouldn't let me take my bike too Disney) and now to top it off a knee injury. Hoping to get back on the bike by next week!

Not looking forward to the headwinds on my way in now I've lost a lot of fitness!

And in a similar vein, I have not been off the bike altogether, but my recumbent has not been out since September. Used it to get to work this morning and learned all over again that it needs a different set of muscles.

I used to have them...

Me too
I've not ridden to work since before Christmas because of the extreme weather (I come via country roads and the were impassable) and other evening commitments.
Hoping to get back in the saddle end of this week, but slightly nervous if I'll be able to actually shift my new, fatter, body all the way here!

Eh? Where have you lot been over Christmas?

Oh yeah snow....sorry took it for granted I've been lucky with the snow.
