It's nearly winter so I'm back on one gear again, single speed at the moment (waiting for a fixed cog at lbs). Forgotten how much fun it is and how much more aggressive I am on one gear compared to 18 (most of which I don't use anyway).
Anyone else riding fixed/single speed for the winter (TF you don't count if you're reading this, you ride fixed all year round)

I'm on fixed all year round for commuting, I ride gears in the summer for the Sunday rides, but at the end of October, when the clocks go back, the geared bike goes away and I ride fixed for all rides till the spring.

Always use bikes with gears, they get plenty of use. Within 1km of leaving home I climb 50 metres with potential for starting from a standing start on a 10% gradient.

Lovely summer on new road bike - will be back on the old SS for the whole of winter as soon as the weather changes

(only changed gear twice this morning anyway - so is not such a big change here in the flatlands!)

Lumpy? Sorry I was only joking, my front street is lumpy-er than your total ascent. I suppose it's all relative.

It aint flat that's for certain, how longs your street? whats the rest of the ride like?

My street to the main road is silly steep but doable on 71", as it's only 300 yards long. The hills around Rossendale are pretty hilly but not daft, if I want daft I go to Colinj's area.

Looks pretty flat to me,
As has been stated it's all relative, although I used to live in Cov so I know it's not hilly.

Coventry gets lumpy in places, there's not a lot that's flat.
