So After my last thread, I thought I had a pretty good grasp of what I wanted - hardcore road bike as N+1 for my charge single speed. Was pretty set that the Giant Defy 1 offered the best value for money and that's the route I'd take.
Alas, the C2W window opens and Im expecting my voucher shortly when I decided to do that awfully silly thing of double checking my thoughts, and I all of a sudden come across this thing called Cyclocross and it looks like it might suit me down to the ground! A lot of my rides are canals, a little bit of city hopping, back paths etc and the one thing I was worried about doing on a hardcore roadie was planning my routes in such a way that I wouldnt completely B****** up my wheels.
It seems that a cyclocross will still allow me to eat up the miles on the black stuff with only a minor speed penalty but would punish me much less for taking a path less trodden.
So my question is one of value, between the Giant anyroad 1 and 2, and the Giant revolt 1 and 2.
The anyroad one is grabbing my attention the most but its at the top of my budget and I'd like a little left over for peripherals if possible. The anyroads also come with 28C tyres which I'd be happy with, the revolts come with 35c which I'd need to factor in the cost of swapping out straight away. The reason I want a Giant is that the local Giant store accepts the halfords vouchers straight up, is >5km from my house and Ive had fantastic service in there in the past. My main worry is that quality of componentry compared to the defy.
Any thoughts?
