Please recommend me a backpack for cycling.

Main requirements are:
  • Waterproof
  • Spacious enough to keep a full change of clothes (incl. shoes), and sometimes even a laptop
  • Looks cool (maybe I'll want to use it away from cycling too ;))
  • If it has one of those meshes that stops it sitting so close to your back, that would be good but not essential
  • High vis not a massive requirement, but would be nice, maybe some tasteful reflective strips.
  • Also bonus points if it can be found on Amazon (I have a voucher) but if the best options are not on Amazon, fire away!
Cheers.

Deuter. Come with a waterproof cover. I wouldn't carry a laptop on my back, but that's just me and liking having a neck intact after a spill

Hi viz, you can just add a Hump cover if needed, they might even be waterproof. Not sure you'll get a backpack that is waterproof without a cover

Do any backpacks truly look cool?

I have one of these, the crossbike

I guess not, but the ones you've linked to look a lot better than this for instance: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sport-Direc...=1406749262&sr=1-4&keywords=high+viz+backpack

Much as that would probably do the job too.

Got mine from Sports Direct. Karrimor. Meets all your criteria, except perhaps being cool. About £30 or so and has lasted very well.

One of the 64K
I've just plumped for one of these. http://www.trespass.com/deimos-01893 you can get them at almost full price from Amazon, or half price from Trespass so I'd go with Trespass (half price is £36).

Not reflective, but does have a hydration pack option, I reckon a laptop would fit (although not designed specifically for one so you'd want to check) holds itself away from your back, good padding on the waist strap and a reasonable chest strap. Comes with its own waterproof cover in a pocket in the bottom, replace it with a reflective Hump one and sorted for reflective. Only downside I've found is that is that it interferes with my lid when I want to put my head right back, I'll just ride without the helmet if I use it, so that's simple. Probably won't foul a smaller lid either, mine comes a long way down the back of my head.

I can squeeze in a laptop, charger and change of clothes with shoes (I really mean squeeze, with no laptop it wouldnt be a problem)
Waterproof cover (high viz in the orange and black colour - not sure about the others)
Sits way off your back allowing lots of airflow
I went for the smallest size as most days all I carry is my laptop but i think they do larger ones if you want a bit more space
