some poor bugger got a close one yesturday..

(driving coz it's miles), i'm on a long straight road in town , towards me is a cyclist and about 4 cars behind him,,, its obvious the merc is gunna go for it.. i think 'hmm' so back off, theres only one way he could do this and thats if he puts his foot down... he doesnt , I get as close as i can to other kerb and come to a stop , even then he must have given the cyclist a bit of a scare, the other cars waited behind..

dickhead..

about here, stupidly narrow..

mind you,, i was on the other carraigeway this evening, as this happened.. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereve...-as-car-overturns-on-m60-near-trafford-centre
saw massive amount of dust and an out of control yellow car end up on the side of the road (not central) bit of armco which seperates some lanes out..
but yeah, the idiot proportion has seemed high in the last couple of days even though its quiet

Had some guy in a Porsche going all the way around a small roundabout, tries to impress someone by giving it some gas and almost lost the back end.

Not a good day for me.

1) Saw my 1st rider down (have posted details).
2) Almost get cleaned up my some idiot in a BMW pulling out of a junction without indicating. Manage to evade him after hearing the ridiculous noise coming out of one of those "trying to make up for a small manhood" exhausts.
3) Get abuse from a load of pedestrians after having the audacity to set off at a green light while they were crossing a pelican on red. One of them shouted "You could have waited" at me - so I bellowed (I have a loud voice) "So could you" back!! (and I was actually that clean too)
4) Have to slam on the anchors to avoid another non-indicator (this time in a big ASDA lorry).

Was glad to get to work in one piece!!

Bad start for me as well today.

First within a mile from home, traffic was light, and I was spun up to about 30mph on the fixed going down hill, in primary, can see a driver in the side road to the right, he sees me and guns it, but doesn't calculate my speed so I'm full on the brakes, back end sliding, to stop hitting him. Lots of 'Oi' from me, put on a sprint and drew level with his drivers window and told him to use his eyes, then I overtook him. He then stayed behind me for another mile and received the evils off me at the next lights.

Less than half a mile later, I'm crossing a small roundabout, and there is a guy driving onto the roundabout from the left, not looking. I shout "Oi", nothing "Whoa" nothing - manage to dodge his bonnet - the idiot was half asleep, wasn't looking. This one did at least wave an apology as he passed me later on.

There was lots of swearing from me - I'm paranoid as the doc/physio has said I must not fall onto my recently repaired shoulder.

Oh, and there was a flaming headwind, and my cateye computer is playing up (needs batteries).

This is the point where I (personally) would have started braking: Treat them all like idiots (you won't be far wrong) and you're more likely to keep that shoulder repaired!

Roundabout thingy happened to me a few weeks ago - straight out of the left-hand road (he wasn't waiting there, was well back as I approached the RAB) and into the lane where I was going straight ahead. I showed the video to the police who's first comment on viewing it (at my house) was that it was careless driving. However apparently the number plate isn't registered so they lost interest (the road he came out of is a small industrial estate, sometimes I'm tempted to cruise around there in the evening to see if I can spot the car). Final comment by PC as he left was "It would be alright if they waved an acknowledgement afterwards" !

only 1 incident today that required a raised voice. Approaching a RAB, 2 lane entry, I'm in the left (to go straight on) and I've done a 'lifesaver' - As I'm cruising in to the junction (I'd seen a gap in traffic going round) I was suddenly aware of a black bonnet literally inches away from my right hip! I could have reached out and rested on him...

 Legend!

That bonnet hip thing royally pisses me off. Have had it happen a few times.

Only problems I've really had today have been the heat on the way home. And misjudging a bus going in. Following the bus through the temporary lights, Shirley Road. The new juction means he has to swing out right for a left turn, so I swing out to the right myself thinking he's turning and hoping to take advantage of the gap that will open up.. but no turn, he's going straight on.

Gonna have to get used to that junction all over again!

I'm always amazed at how car drivers have no idea why cyclists get so angry after they've carelessly risked a cyclist's life.

Couldn't agree more. Yesterday morning i was approaching a mini roundabout i gave way, but the car coming from my right was indicating left, i went to pull out but he came straight on.We had a small pointing session where i was pointing at his left indicator, whereby he quickly cancelled it.He was then pointing the finger at me, though no actual words were spoken during this brief stoppage. All it takes is to just hold your hand up in a gesture to say" ok mate i got it wrong ..sorry"

I think its probably the initial embarrassment of the incident that stops them apologising, especially when they also have a passenger with them. Think this guy had his wife with him.
