One hot sunday about three years ago, I was heading home along a double-parked road beside a park in Bristol. I stopped for a small hatchback coming the other way, and waved the driver on. As he passed me, some T**T in the rear passenger seat lent out of the window and spat a fountain of sugary liquid (I think it was lemonade) into my face. I can still hear them laughing as they sped off. Didn't get the reg as I was busy wiping my eyes. Got a helmet cam after that.

Even with a registration number i don't think the police would approach the driver,unless he's "well known to them". They once told me after a similar incident that it's your word against their's and if you have no evidence it happened then...
You'll just have to hope some payback happens to these retards on day soon.

But if 2 or 3 people independently reported them for similar incidents then a pattern would be seen to emerge!

I really really hate spineless gutless ****ers like this. My other half is a great believer in karma, me i think its superstitious nonsense. If I'm wrong, and at times like this, i really hope i am, then at some point in the not too distance future they will get their comeuppance. Makes my blood boil. Hope the lad is ok.

To the OP, yes I would definitely report it. If CCTV is around you may get lucky. If not you'll feel better anyway.

I too am in the 'report it to plod' camp. There might be some CCTV footage, they might have done it before and it's been reported.

Truly disgusting behaviour. Report it as assault. If something turns up, brilliant but even just for stats it helps to raise the priority of assault and ASB towards cyclists. But...

The sad fact is, there are some people on this planet who seem to only have 2 brain cells. The numptys in that car seem to have only one and have to share it between them. It never ceases to amaze me just how unpleasant and stupid, and downright nasty some people can be. I hope this experience hasn't put your son off cycling. Thankfully, not everyone is like that. There's absolutely no reason why they couldn't investigate or why it couldn't go to court. There are lots of cases put before the courts that are one person's word against another.

Our force where are brilliant, it gives us joe public so much more confidence to report stuff, knowing they will do what they can to help.

I am sorry to read this. But I would not report it, the chances of successfully apprehending the idiots must be negligible and you will only think about the incident more and then it'll have a disproportionately negative impact. It's a crappy incident but let it (mentally) go.
