Badly Parked Cars!

Well at least a few on them managed to stay on the road but yes, the pavement is seen as fair game by a large number of motorists - and it makes me so angry!

Clicked on your link and instantly recognised one of the locations of parked cars ... I think those particular lines are completely ignored by motorists and I don't see why Bristol made a net loss on parking fines when that road alone could generate a huge revenue. In fact just passed there but strangely enough I don't think there was a single car today (when I went past - I'm sure 5 mins before or after there would have been). (Stokes Croft in case you didn't guess).

I have an album on my Facebook, titled Rude People.
Park in a Disabled bay with no blue badge, you'll get snapped, park accross cycle paths, snapped, driveways & pavements, snapped... Basically I have no problem with naming & shaming people who park in places they shouldn't or in a manner that obstructs or makes things difficult for others.
I live in a village, everyone knows everyone, or is related to someone or is married to someone's cousins aunty twice removed, so it's pretty certain that someone will spot one of my pics, know the offender, and tell them they are 'famous'

I also find this quite annoying. Ok, a lot of the time I can edge through, so I'm not too inconvenienced. But why should people with pushchairs or in wheelchairs have to go out in the road to get round? Very inconsiderate.

Once had this discussion with a very large lady who had completely blocked a pavement by parking on it - and claimed she could because she had a blue badge.

Blue badge holders are still required to park legally and safely.

A friend of mine enjoys ramming cars with his electric wheelchair
he also has a few door mirrors that 'just came off' when he tried to get past

blue badge holders can park on single and double yellow lines if there is no alternative, they almost can park anywhere but should still be considerate.

When I complained about pavement parking near the local school to the local plod, I was told:
"we have to understand that when these roads were made there weren't that many cars about. We ignore pavement parking, so laong as theres room for a buggy to pass"
Couldn't believe my ears
As far as I'm concerned, pavements for peds. It can upset people when I park all 4 wheels on the road, which stops someone parking opposite.... tough

I detest pavement parkers. Pavements are for pedestrians.

A few years ago I was wheeling my young son along in his push-chair, and encountered a chap who was parked at 90 degrees across the foot way. "Either you move your car", I said, "or I'll drag the push-chair across it. I don't see why I should have to wheel my son out into the road". The bloke with great ill-grace edged out into the road - after we'd gone past, he reversed back onto the pavement.

A couple of times this week near my work I've witnessed roadworks involving a gas van parked on a cycle lane contraflow completely blocking it, thereby forcing cyclists either (a) out into the road, the wrong way on a one-way street or (b) onto the pavement. No warning signs on the contraflow direction.

If I see it there again I'll be taking a photo and emailing the gas company and the council. Unfortunately I won't be back in the vicinity till next Tues.

On my street there are three four pinchpoints, which have a cycle lane on one side, seperate to the pinchpoint. Tthree of them often have something parked in the cycle lane, completely blocking it, I'll grab a picture next time and name and shame lol. But for now, this is outside my kids' school. First, a usual suspect:

Due to badly designed roads, especially on new estates, parking on the pavement is the only alternative to let other motorists get by, if I parked on the road outside my house it means that my neighbour opposite cannot park outside his house without completely blocking the road. Both of us park up the kerb to allow cars to continue up the road. I always leave enough room for a buggy/wheelchair to get past.

I had an ambulance knock on my door once asking me to move my car or provide him with details of the other driver, I had parked up the kerb, the car opposite hadn’t, meaning it was an incredibly tight squeeze for a car but impossible for the ambulance to get past.
