I wear Helly Hansen Gore shorts over my lycra shorts. I like to ride with a chamois pad and the shorts keeps the wind and rain off.

Another Humvee wearer here, however, I don't wear the padded Chamois insert. I find padded inserts hot and uncomfortable so I just wear thin Merino wool boxer shorts under them.

Humvee for me also. Great shorts for the money

I'm smaller than the OP and they don't look too much like short trousers

Lighter weight than Hummvees are DHB Navo shorts, which I wear in summer. They have tiny weeny pockets just about big enough for a train ticket but not much else! But they are lightweight and comfortable. I wear them over padded lycra shorts.

I just did a search for them and I couldn't find any. Looks like the curse of the Altura Winter Cruisers has struck. As soon as I get a type of clothing that I like it gets discontinued.

Edit: I think these may be them. They just aren't called "Navo" any more. They aren't very baggy, but they aren't skin tight lycra either.

I think I still have some Endura Humvee Lite's that are still in all their original packaging.

never worn and sitting in a storage container somewhere. They are the old old ones that still had mesh at the back for ventilation.

Depending on your size they may fit you, Otherwise they'll be up for sale as Ive lost a significant chunk of weight since I bought them all them years ago.

I'll update with sizing when I find them. I think they'll be XXL but you can synch the belt down

Having always worn Lycra shorts I am considering moving over to baggy shorts (it's an age thing) any the issue is being somewhat short in stature 5'6" looking for recommendations as dnt want shorts that look like short trousers!

I tried these for the first time a couple of months ago and think they are tremendous for touring, with or without padded underwear. https://www.corinnedennis.co.uk/traditional-style-touring-shorts.
