Over the last few months I have noticed quite a number of bikes parked up in strange places i.e. where has the person gone to park the bike there. There has been one near my office for about 4 weeks now, as far as I can tell never been moved.

Are these likely to be police bait bikes?

On a positive note, if they are either the thieves have thought the same as me, or no one steal bikes around here.

I'm afraid I don't know. Are bait bikes a thing? What would happen if someone stole it? Who would know, who would report it, and if it had some kind of tracker on it, then surely there wouldn't be enough evidence to convict the person because "I fought it was my bruvver's mate's"

There are quite a few around here. On roundabouts, out in the country, in towns and all painted orange. They all appeared around September can't think why.

Possibly stolen bikes that are then chained up elsewhere until the miscreant can shift them
