Purveyor of fine nonsense
I've not been out on my bike for a "proper" ride this year before today due to weather and work.
I thought I'd take advantage of the clocks going forward to get out for an early Sunday morning ride. "Aha!", I thought, "Everyone will be still asleep at 8am because their brains will still think it's 7am! What a perfect opportunity to get a car-free ride in!".
So off I trotted at 8am on one of my 20 mile routes ...
How wrong I was!
Incident No. 1: At 8:05am I am cycling down the A27 - this is a sodding huge dual carriageway, straight as a die, not a bloody car in sight, I hear a car coming up behind me - and the bastard proceeds to overtake me at a speed far in excess of the posted 40mph limit, giving me about 1 inch of clearance ... despite the fact that he has an entire empty lane to his right hand side which he could have used to overtake me.
Incident No. 2: At about 8:20am, I am entering Lee on Solent when Mr Flat-Cap Bumbleberry Halfwit in his camper van decides to emerge from a side road directly infront of me, verrrry verrrry sloooooowly .....
Incident No. 3: At about 8:40am, I am going over the little single-lane bridge near Haslar hospital. Now the lights on that bridge change very fast and so I always power over it as fast as possible ... but not fast enough for Johnny Chav Barry-Boy in his Golf GTI with an exhaust pipe like a bucket, who glues himself to my rear wheel, revs his engine, floors it and squeezes past me ... in a 30mph zone ... despite the fact that I am doing 33mph ... and then gives me the finger before roaring off in to the council estate. If he had waited literally 3 seconds, he would have had ample space in which to overtake me.

And all this before 9am on a Sunday morning. The two close overtakes were on otherwise completely empty and peacefully quiet roads. WTF is the matter with these people??!!!
