Hmm... I don't think any of my bamboo looks that alluring... especially in the depths of winter when I was wearing it on the bottom half as well.

My special cycling boxer shorts are made from Bamboo and they make my bum hurt a bit. Probably due to many miles in the saddle!!

Bamboo is lovely and soft. Wife has t-shirts and other stuff in bamboo and loves the feel of it.

Still not too sure if the processing has any harmful effects, but can't be as bad as non-organic cotton. Items are slightly pricier, but I think most of the problem is people's perception of bamboo being itchy, or a little bit wacky. E.g. Salmon is now cheaper than Cod, but people don't have deep fried salmon and chips 'cos they don't want anything that posh from their local chippy. I guess same prejudice works for bamboo.

Does anyone here wear bamboo clothing?

If you do a Google search for "bamboo clothing", lots of stuff comes up at reasonable prices.

I'm attracted to it because (a) it's not that expensive and (;) I am led to believe that it is a far more "eco friendly" product that cotton because the bamboo grows so fast and is grown "wild" - i.e. they just stick it in the ground and watch it grow, without the need for intensive farming techniques (e.g. chemicals).

From a consumer point of view, I'd be interested to know how well bamboo clothing keeps its shape as compared to cotton clothing. Currently I buy those multi-packs of t-shirts from ASDA; but after a few washes they end up like something that would look good on Quasimodo.

If bamboo keeps its shape and is as "eco-friendly" as the vendors would have us believe, I think it could be the way forward ...

Could cause some issues on my next visit to London Zoo...

Bamboo is an amazing weed, in fact there are plenty of quick growing roots and such which are far superior to contemporary strained resources, I guess luxury inertia takes precedent however.

Give it a go, if you like it write it up, I might have my next suit made from the material!

There was a small thread on Bamboo in the Bikes and Accessories section a while back and Fiona N recommended Bamboo bedding.

My favourite two l/s base layers are mostly bamboo and have been worn a lot in the three years I've had them. Still going strong and still very comfy.

I have a bamboo softshell by Dare2b. Very light, very packable, doesn't smell like polyester when sweaty. Lovely soft feel. Nice reflective detailing on sleeve. Bargain from TK's, reduced from £70 to £25.
