Other road users are not and should not be an "annoyance". Annoyance is akin to irritation, exasperation, vexation, indignation, anger, crossness. Why should another road user generate such reaction (minor or otherwise)?

If in using road you come across someone else lawfully and properly using the road then there really is something the matter if that annoys you.

Fair enough if the user is not playing by the rules and being out of control or dangerous but really it should not be acceptable that every car that a cyclist holds up for a second or two is driven to anger by such encounter.

so, is a (perfectly lawful) traffic jam not an annoyance?

Although like cyclists, the majority of motorcyclist adhere to the rules of the road, I do seem to encounter more than my fair share of biker numpties like the one in the attached picture. Guess where they shouldn't be!. Also fed up of the filtering and barging into the ASL.

Bit of a bad night last night so was having a little rant....mainly tonight it was cyclists...No lights and RLJing...I'm fed up with my work colleagues branding every cyclist as bad so I get the 'ump when I see blatant rljers and the no light brigade.

For most drivers on a daily commute to work and back, the journey time is probably doubled simply by the volume of traffic and so half the journey or more can be spent sitting in a traffic jam. In London you are basically always in a traffic jam. Should this induce anger? No it should not.


There is also a subtle difference between anger arising from an unforeseen delay and anger directed at a specific other road user.
