I've bought some grips to fit to my new MTB. Is there a way to get the existing grips off without cutting them off with a knife?

Slide a screwdriver or other implement under the grip and give it a squirt of WD40. The grip will easily slide off. Just make sure you thoroughly clean the bars before fitting the new ones.

Ah, thanks.
And should I require to fit them again at a later date, is it WD40 again?

Spray a little hair spray into the new grips before fitting (if none clamp type), it'll help them slide on and grip the bars too

If the WD40 trick doesn't work, use a hair dryer to heat the rubber to soften it, works for me

White spirit in a syringe to get them off and a swirl of spirit inside the grip to get them on. Use a golf tee to plug any hole in the grip.

edit: Forgot to add, if you dont want to save the old grips use a hooked nose stanley blade its a lot safer.

Air compressor. They come off quickly.

Quickly enough to break windows...
