Regarding police officers going to supermarkets on duty, it always amazes me that the public think we can work for 10 hour shifts without having something to eat!

I was cycling through the meadows a few months back to a lbs and there was an ambulance blocking the shared use path. I thought nothing of it except it must be an emergency. On the way back I passed it again to see the crew stretched out in the sun.

Having a pop at firemen is an excellent way for the cycling community to win friends and influence people.

under the highway code any vehicle can stop on double yellows to let a passenger disembark from a vehicle or get into one. If it was a drop off and then dove around the block - perfectly legal. If they waited not so legal, but we do not know the reason why the fire engine was there.

I only realised this the other week when checking something but it is worded in a way that you could stop for a moment, but not wait there.
