Wouldn't have thought so, since you're meant to use the balls of your feet when pedalling anyway.

Fair enough. Always looks like you could get the heel caught and the sole can't be very grippy for the pedal though?

I'm sure these ladies know what they're doing though, as long as they don't take me out when they fall A over T :becool:

I've been riding in bare legs all this week and part of last week. Now got a sodding cold. Coincidence??

well, skin is what Gore and all these other fancy fabric manufacturers are striving for in their fabrics, in terms of performance and breathability. :becool:

Lol it's waterproof on the outside but breathable to let stuff out like goretex I suppose, but I think the meaning is that it dosent matter if your skin gets wet, it's easier to dry than clothing! Obviously that dosent work in the Antarctic lol it's more of something a grumpy old man says when your complaining your getting soaked when living outdoors for a few days

Personally, I'm a bit of a wuss. Leggings for anything under 15 degrees! I just really feel the cold (although with the amount of blubber on me, you'd think I should be toasty!!!).

15C??? I'd melt!!! Seriously I struggled on the way back from a FNRttC cos I'd worn leggings, ss top and a jacket for the overnight ride and was riding back in about 11C after breakfast. I couldn't believe how hard it was and how bad the cramps were later from sweating so much.

Anything under 10C and you should cover your knees. After that the cold and the windchill start effecting the synovial fluid in your knees which thickens and then doesn't work as effectively as before. Riding with bare knees in temps below 2C is possibly the worst thing you could do to your knees.

The synovial fluid is the lubricant for your joint, if it doesn't work effectively, it's going to cause damage to the cartilage!

You won't feel this as being an issue, as you have no nerves in your knees.

Or cartilage in one knee.. I think any damage I could do to my knees was done many years ago in my rugby/ju jitsu days.

I passed a roadie tonight who was in shorts. Come to think of it, he's been in shorts every time I've passed him.

And no, I didn't get a response (again) to my "evening" as I went past :cursing:

I was extremely glad to be wearing two pairs of tights when I came off on Sunday! Massive bruise on leg but no open cuts thank god. Managed to get one pair off in hospital. They wouldn't let me remove the second pair and were cut off
