Barn find 1966 Claude Butler.

Bought this off a guy earlier this year so thought I would give it a quick clean up.

Has rust in places but all solid.
56cm frame.
nice Campagnolo seatpost.
gears are very close ratio.
Suntour shifters.
Will need some parts once refurbished to make it right.

Very nice. You’ll need to get a campag LF rear hub to match the front. I remember saving to get a pair of those with Mavic rims when I was a kid.

Too old and stiff to ride it these days but 42-23 is 'bottom' gear

It used to be a 5 speed with 26-52 as a bottom gear until I rebuilt it after a lorry ran it over

1966, I would have been 19 I don’t recall cotterless cranks being common in that era? But, perhaps the better off lads had them.

No it has some wrong parts. Will look for a nicer crank to put on it.

Replace to existing FIAMME rim. Matching pair.
