barnsley to york

anyone got any (quiet traffic wise) ideas for routes from Barnsley, (Hoyland) to York. Cycling fro Barnsley to Scarborough at the weekend and have the route nailed from York to Scarborough (we did it last year so have the strava route).

If you can get to Selby, NCN 65 will take you from Selby into the centre of York, most of it off road on a dedicated tarmac cycleway:

Jump onto the Trans Pennine Trail at Worsborough or Brampton. That will take you up towards Snaith, Selby and York. Haven't ridden the bits around Barnsley but those sections further north are quiet but got to say that some of the surfaces are interesting.
