Last week I bought a load of Skins compression tops which seem really good. Theyre pricey though, CRC had some 80-90% off but only XXL.

Lidl/Aldi do wicking sports tops from time to time for less than a tenner i think and Nike Dri-Fit stuff is usually pretty cheap.

Sports direct usually have some decent stuff in their running section, i picked up a new balance long sleeve top for 16 notes, they had Nike, addias and Asics stuff as well, worth a look

I use Canterbury of New Zealand base layers - both the Hot and Cold versions, usually bought via eBay.

In the past year they've served me well and are decently priced.

It's individual preference. Others prefer merino or bamboo ones.

if you can wait until Aldi brings out their winter stuff, then I can highly recommend theirs. I've ridden the last two winters in their winter compression base layers and they are absolutely excellent, and I've been through a few other brands over the years - a complete no-brainer for the money...

Have a varder at Craft basewear.

I've got a couple of Howies merino base layers and I can't help thinking the advantages are somewhat overstated. The material sags naturally when damp and about the only advantage I can see is that they don't start to smell after you've taken them off and left them on the floor for three days...
