I may be the only guitarist who believes the bass player is what rocks a band....a really good solid bass player is hard to find. As a guitarist I want a bass player to lock tight with the drums for sure but also fill out the sound behind me under solos etc (yes the solo is more important than anything lol!) ...but I also want the bass player to add to the melody/atmosphere....too often bass players forget just how crucial they are to making us lead guitarists look great:laugh:

Grab this http://www.zeeb.co.uk/downloads free best of and listen to Ameoba man, it's possibly my proudest bass moment, well that and the chunky chords on Sex and Super Nova

This was me back in 1982.

I found that I could build basses better then I could play them.
The one in the photo has a +-15v supply from the amp powering the active electronics inside and sends a balanced line signal to the amp. The matching amp is a 60W mini W bin.

My other bass is a fretless quadraphonic. I made the quadraphonic pick up myself. It can either send a mono, stereo or quad signal to the mixing desk.

I love the sound of a bass well played, regardless of the style of music.

Too cool!

supernova...farked up but not over....great line!

I preffered that track to amoeba man myself....

..ok now I'm going to say something no guitarist of any standing would ever say.......ease back on the guitars in the mix and make that bass punch you in the chest....it's not a volume issue, more an eq and compression thing....not that my mixes are better....but that's my thought.

Mine is an Aria MAB series left handed 5-string fretless. I play it at Church mostly where we have a line 6 effects pod and a Hartke amp which DIs into the main system. (My avatar may show an acoustic 6-string, but I'm primarily a bass player.)

I might be buying one this summer as a reward to myself if I get a permanent job!

That band is pretty over sadly. The first album got us signed and sold out the first pressing almost immediately, the second album (which sex and supernova was from) didn't sell very well and by the time we released the 17 track last album we were just getting daft (hence amoeba man) and nobody cared any more!

I like those Mark Bass amps....each time I've played with a bass player with one of those little boxes the floor shook and I left the rehearsal room feeling like I'd done 15 rounds with Myke Tyson.
