I bought a huge macaroon bar this morning; not bad, not bad.

I quite enjoyed my ride home, was very blowy, quite looking forward to tomorrow as I have an early start so should be quiet.

Had a daft, selfish bint, pull out on me tonight, in a Merc SLK, on the phone, couldnt possibly wait for the poor sod on the bike, booted it out of the junction and span the rear wheels, car responded by cutting power and she was sat there not going very fast waiting for the car she cut up the other way.

It was hard work this morning into the strong headwind on the more exposed parts of my commute. I think the road may have been better today & offered more protection that the cycle track. Was struggling to maintain 12mph is some parts.
Coming home was fun though, tail wind most of the way & four fruit trees from lidl in my panniers acting as sails , although the last 3 miles I had more of a cross wind which proved to be difficult at points ;)

The wind and rain has reached these parts!

Mnaged to stay dry-ish on the way home, but it's lashing it down now, and I fear I may be a wee bit bedraggled on my way in tomorrow morning.

Long hot shower, long hot breakfast, and then out into it again!

Only another week to go, though, then it's holiday time! ;)

I err'ed on the side of caution and took the car in today. Glad I did as the stretch of road that has a notorious crosswind would have dun me over. I could feel the wind take the car at one point.

It was breezy here today, I was down to 3mph at times on the 3 mile trip to the shop today, and had to stop twice for a rest:ohmy:.
Was hitting 24 mph and barely turning the pedals on the way home:biggrin:
It was unusually warm in the gale, about 15C, and much of the snow has now disappeared from the hilltops.

A truly scary and nerve-shredding ride home tonight, where the wind was even worse than this morning. I was hoping for a tailwind, but it was coming in from my right-hand side and continually trying to take the bike away from under me. One terrifying moment came when I was almost blown across the road into the path of a van - took quite a while for my heart rate to come back down after that one.

Couldn't even relax when it felt less gusty, as every side street seemed to act like an air-cannon, with sudden and violent cross-winds blasting out as I passed.

On the way home I was slapped around the face by flying leaves, hit by falling branches and twigs, assaulted by flying plastic bags and battered by careering cardboard boxes. As I came along Great Junction Street to turn into Mill Lane, I got a large plastic bag wrapped around the lower jockey wheel on my derailleur and had to stop and struggle to remove it.

Not one of the most enjoyable rides I've had this year, I have to admit; but I'm game for another go tomorrow !!

The side winds were so lethal yesterday that I kept on thinking I had a p*ncture in the front wheel.
The handling was so weird that it felt like the front inner tube was losing air.

Bit crap tomorrow- no work for me, but my son and I are planning to cycle round to my parents, so my son can play my 25 year old brother on his Wii - latest Star Wars Game..... might be full water proofs.... only a couple of miles..

I must admit I really enjoyed Thursdays commute home. Very windy, but for parts of it it was behind me and I flew.....;)

There were parts where I hit a wall of wind as well, but it just all seemed part of the fun!

I wanted not to cycle to my folks due to the rain...my 7 year old son wouldn't back out - so did the 4 mile return in the rain (both had full waterproofs).

Even (shock) had some really considerate drivers on the main roads, slowed to let us out past parked cars, gave a massive wide birth, let us out at junctions...... my son on a 20" bike, and the fact he's smallish helped...... Just one idiot that completely cut the corner at the end of my folks road - he shat himself when he saw a little boy and his dad........ I pointed and said 'the road's over there' - to which he mouthed 'I'm very sorry'.........
