BB spindle length question

It's irritating! I'd love a 14-34 8 speed cassette paired with a standard road triple and I'll bet it would suit the vast majority of non racers too... But such a thing is too uncool to even exist!

My Scott 209 roadie has flat bars and an 11-34t Alivio rear end system, paired with a ridiculous 52-42-30 chainset. I've used the 52 ring maybe half a dozen times in 3 years...
Anyone got a square-taper 50-39-30 they don't want?

I've got the cheap and cheerful 48/38/28 square taper crank that I just replaced. Rings are fine but there's some good heel rub on the cranks.

The BB they came off was a 117.5mm spindle which may or may not match what you currently have!

Yours for postage if you want them.

Unfortunately, that size chainset doesn't work on this frame - tried it already! But thanks for the offer.

The irritating thing is that I have the chainset I want to use, it just will not work on this frame...

Why won't it work @DCBassman? If it's clearance issues on the crank arms or chain rings can you change the BB to a different spindle length to make it fit?

Because the mech will not adjust far enough to accommodate the change. Braze-on mech on asymmetric down tube, so can't fit a band-on mech either...
