One bike I had - mechanical brakes - the pads started locking during braking, i.e. brakes came on and wouldn't release.
On the other bike - hydraulic brakes. One piston came out of the caliper and wouldn't go back in again, so the brakes were continuously rubbing on the disc.
Should I take more care of my bike? Yes.
