This morning i took the CX out on a ride in the pissing rain :rain:

The noise coming from BOTH of my BB7 brakes was awful. It sounded like i was skinning a pig while it was still alive :mrpig:

The bike has done only 100km. My BB5's on the hybrid squeal in the wet but nowhere as bad as this.

Will this improve or do i now have an inbuilt airhorn :gun:

It can be improved by removing the discs and pads and sanding them to a smooth finish and then bed them in properly. What's happens when you don't bed them in properly is you get grooves like on vinyl records - hence the squeal. Have a look on YouTube there's some vids on there.

When I first had disc brakes they squealed something terrible, I regretted have discs at first. They were Tektro IO but I now have Tektro Aquila and from day one they are very quiet in dry conditions (absolutely no noise at all and great braking, with no bedding in either).

In the rain they start to squeal. If it bothers me I just pedal for about 20 metres with the brakes lightly applied and the squealing goes away for a bit.

I consider my brakes to be very good in terms of performance and quiet operation, but in the wet I do sometimes get squeal, which seems unavoidable. Perhaps its down to the type of pads.

Mine also squeal look a good 'un when wet but are good when dry. Try chamfering the "leading" edges of the pads with a file, this seems to work for some folk.

Also - are the pads fully pushed home into the slots until they click?

Change the stock pads to some semi-metallic ones from Disco Brakes.
That solved the squealing BB7 problem for me.
