My parents watched it religiously every year. As a kid, it was ok at first, but then I started to get annoyed at it hijacking the TV for what seemed like forever, then all the grunts and silly noises and then... 'HENMANIA!', FFS, the BBC really did disappear up their own arses at that point, never to be seen again, never mind the feeble bleating cries of "Come on Tim!" when, oh dear, he failed again... Oh and don't get me started on Cliff Bloody Richard!
No, even the sound of racket on ball is enough for me to change the channel these days.
It didn't help that I have fcuk all hand - eye coordination, so it was all a bit alien to me anyway.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have even been to Wimbledon, twice, the first time purely out of curiosity (I was in the area at the time and besides, there were also Routemasters providing transport to/from the station, so I was there for the buses! 🤣), the second time with my parents, who somehow persuaded me to go with them on the tour and see the museum (thankfully there was no actual tennis) and it is an interesting place to see, yes, I will concede, but no, I'll never watch it or any other tennis, ever.

Looking at tv guide, BBC has Wimbledon coverage between BBC1 and BBC2 straight through from 10:30 to 22:00.
TdF coverage rarely shows full stage so maybe 4-5hours at most(?).
Whereas more people probably cycle than play tennis(I'm guessing, no idea) there's no chance BBC would dedicate that much time to cycling even if they had the rights.
Anyway, at least these days there are ample channels available even on free to air so if BBC is blanket showing something anyone doesn't like there are plenty of alternatives.
I know, didn't really gel with the lineup this year either, quite meh. Not much of a festival goer, I've only been twice. Once in 2018 for GnR and Ozzy, but really enjoyed Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry and Temperance Movement. Last time in 2022 but just the Saturday for Maiden.

The coverage of all the acts would be improved 1000% if they got rid of those cocking flags. I can't imagine what it's like being there with them in the way.
I love The 1975 but their set was very polite and professional which wasn't quite the thing. Good but not going to grab anyone. The lyrics that were on the screens for Chocolate were quite superb though.

£120,000 for Rod Stewart, but he needs to pay for whatever staging out of that. He won't be making money from the fee.
The 1975 reportedly spent 4 times as much as their fee on their set. Not sure about that but they also won't have made any money.
There is a massive gulf between those who cycle and those who will watch bicycle races whereas I imagine every tennis player in the UK will watch Wimbledon.
Back to watching Glastonbury on TV. I guess you may as well as I was sent video clips from audience members. Watching a "live" show on a big screen and shitty sound (although that could be phone related) doesn't do it for me. Entirely different if you are close to the stage.
Yes which was exactly point I made, there are probably 1000times the cyclists but a lot of those will be kids, casual cyclists who go out once a fortnight in the sun etc. Hence very little appetite for it on tv.
Agree with what you write there although I spotted one yesterday which had "Blocking your view since 2023" on it which I thought was very good!
