Has it swapped to alternate years now for the foreseeable future?
Probably better I would say.

I guess I do like nostalgia to a degree - for me, it's going back to the city where I was born, and I find when I go there it really recharges my batteries. I can spend hours walking around all my old haunts, and there's a ton of memories for me there, despite leaving when I was 10.
Entertainingly (or not) on the fb pages associated with it, there are LOADS of people on there saying it isn't as good as it was in the 60's/70's (Pick your decade) and how it's all gone to sh1t, probably similar people who are only listening to music from those same time periods.

The place has both changed a lot, but also somehow remained the same - street and architecture wise not much has changed, there are probably just as many independent shops as there ever was (These come and go by design let's be honest) and it's a vibrant city centre of arts, music.

My suspicion is that some people as they get older no longer appreciate what they used to when they were younger, and this is why they believe it has gone down hill. These are the same people that ALWAYS go on about the local council messing xy & z up, and also trot out the 'this place is so anti car I can't get in anymore' line at regular intervals.

Places do change/evolve, they have to, and they always will, I don't see it as a bad thing, quite the opposite.

It’s been alternating years for a long time, it’s to let the land recover

Didn't even entertain watching rodders to be fair, never liked his music when growing up either, so not about to suddenly transform into an appreciator of his music.

While I didn't take any time to see which acts actually were performing (I might have missed someone I really like)...at 67, I have no interest in current 'popular' music (or for the last 20 years for that matter) , I don't even know the faces, let alone the names.
Like you, I was never a Rod fan, don't particually like his musical style...so Glasto has nothing for me really...(heavy rock, metal, the heavier the better is more my kinda thing)

Fallow years aren't set in stone, approx every five years but it depends on other events, such as the Olympics. Its out of sync to be having a fallow year next year so close to the two years off due to the pandemic. Another online forum suggests its anticipating a period in which the founder may not be well ...

I liked Rods stuff in the Faces era, and I kinda like Ronnie Wood as it goes. However, no way am I watching that nonsense from the weekend.
