The 10 nominees are

Phil Taylor (Darts)
Andy McCoy (Jockey)
Lee Westwood (Golf)
Jessica Ennis (Athletics)
David Haye (Boxing)
Graeme Swann (Cricket)
Tom Daley (Diving)
Graeme McDowell (Golf)
Amy Williams (Bob Skeleton)
Mark Cavendish (Cycling)

Slim pickings imo.
I will vote for Cav I suppose, followed by Graeme Swan.

Though A new boxing world champion always seem to pick up the votes. So think he will pick up the award.

Who do you think will win?

I hope Westwood wins but would be happy to see Jess Ennis win.

It's nice to see Cavendish in there, maybe people are finally waking up to the fact that stage wins in the TdF are way more important than gold medals on the track. I'll vote for him, though I wouldn't complain if Westwood or McCoy got it.

I agree that Cav would be a worthy winner, but the great British public, being of the armchair-type sportsperson, like to see someone who has won, or done, one thing well.

Cav has been consistently good over two years, but he hasn't won the TdeF!

The other contenders aren't 'particularly' outstanding, although, as Ian said, having a world heavyweight champion seems to do the trick for the voters!

And although he hasn't won any majors, Lee Westwood could probably win due to the fact that he is the current world no. 1!

Three years, He won four stages in 2008 too.

I do agree though, the public want to see World champions rather than sprinters.

My vote goes to Amy Williams. She was really the only shining beacon for us at the Winter Games. Lee Westwood was rather inspiring at the Ryder Cup so that would be my second choice.
