Bear Grylls - love him or loathe him?

I was watching Bear Grylls Mission survive with Anthony Joshua the other day. I can never make up my mind about Bear Grylls. His programmes do make good viewing and he seems like an inspirational chap. On the other hand, some of the stuff he does with people for the sake of tv are a bit ridiculous. I would like to think he knows what he is doing, but is he really the invincible survival expert he makes out?

I've got one that says it's waterproof. I can testify that it's about as waterproof as a teabag in anything other than the lightest shower.
I thought it must be faulty so exchanged it - but the replacement is the same

Lost any respect for him after that.

He's a likeable enough chap, but the "survival" advice he doles out is a bit questionable sometimes. Urine drinking being one.
