I’m sure the tool would do a nice job but so would some threaded rod, bolts and few washers, just wouldn’t be so pretty.

I have loads of tools as used to be a car mechanic, I took one of my wheels to LBS to replace a Freehub bearing and I don’t want to do that again, I knew I could have done it myself with the right press tool.

Anyone bought this kit? It would do all my wheel bearings and BB on my Defy, for the price of one trip to LBS

I got a bearing kit from wiggle i think…….the lifeline one, needed it to fit the headsets to me ebikes when i swapped out the shoot forks for decent ones

I don't have that kit, but I do have a similar subset. i.e. the press itself with the subset of drifts which fit the bearings I have. Mine are from here:

Very nicely made and might cost you less than buying the full kit you've linked, depending on which drifts you need. It's definitely better to have centring drifts rather than just washers, I'd suggest as then bearings are definitely centred and the forces are definitely on the right parts of them.

Yes I’ve pressed in many car bearings and it’s absolutely safer and less hassle with the correct drifts,

I got a press kit off amazon, and also threadded rod and various nuts and washers. This means I have the exact size presses. The kit came with handles you tap with a hammer, but I use the rod and nuts instead. Also got a blind puller with a slide 'hammer' to remove pivot bearings.

This is a bad choice. You don't want a press fit tool made from aluminium. Whatever you end up with, buy steel.

I have that exact one I'm not a regular bike mechanic so just got it gur my few bikes for thee exact reasons you are saying
The drifts are a good fit in the bearings that I have used
They are drilled 8mm and the threaded rod spins smoothly but I assumes it some kind if Chinese thread as the pitch is more flat that tapered...if thst makes sense ....so I doubt you use that thread bar on anything else
There is also a built in bearing thrust on a tee handle which is more vonvenientvthan adding one on the bar along with washers etc
It's not really heavy duty enough to double up as a head set press nor long enough
You may well be paying for drifts that you will not use etc ...in that case I'm sure I seen headset press and drifts on Amazon for around £10/15 to which you could then add tbe individual drifts that pro bearing shop will make for you
I cannot see the need to use bars and washers etc when there is tools available at reasonable costs ...but thats an individual's choice
Hope that helps
Any other questions let me k ow
