My mother told me, many times, about a tin of corned beef they had during the war. Gran kept it from 1939 through to 1945 and they had it VJ night.
When she died, 6 years ago, my dad was finding things in cupboards mum had kept to have one day. A lot of stuff was from pre best-before-date days. We even found a packet of some sort of packet sauce mix from Hillards. They went in 1987.
