I'm having a bottle for breakfast. Getting overtones of ripe fruit, then an underlying tang of damp sawdust. Well rounded but with a finishing note somewhat reminiscent of rotten plums. Delightfully playfull little number.

I'm using it as a pre-breakfast palate cleanser. I don't want the aftertaste of my morning's absinthe to overwhelm my breakfast pies.
The last time I had Beaujolais Nouveau, the Iron Curtain was still intact and you had to carry your mobile phone around n a suitcase.
The last time I drank Beaujolais Nouveau was at a Beaujolais Nouveau party where everyone had to bring at least three different bottles of the stuff and was during the time when it was a moveable feast rather than a fixed date event and there used to be highly publicised races to get the first bottle to the UK.

Anyway at the last party that took place, many bottles of the insipid stuff were quaffed and five of my teacher friends didn't make it to work the next day, one of them not waking until 14:00 and having to fabricate a cock and bull story about attending A&E and the codeine that he was giving knocking him out after taking a tad too much to relieve the pain.

I'd prepared for the eventuality of being unable to teach and had prepared copious worksheets for the kids telling them in advance of the event that I was beginning to feel unwell and on 'recovery day' giving them the worksheets and asking them to work quietly. It worked!

I had my last bottle of BN last night (whatever it is that Waitrose are selling) and the first this year in the Cathay Pacific lounge at CDG airport.
It's OK, light, fruity, pleasant enough.
