We are goup of 4 possibly 6 are contemplating a 7 day tour in the Spring or Autumn. We are prepared to pay up for facilities. Our age range is 65-84. 2 of the 4 may choose to rent e-bikes. 3-4 hours riding per day would leave adequate time for lunch, vineyard visits etc . My current thinking is that the support of a man with a van would cover most of the cycling logistical needs. How do we find such a paragon? Our language ability are fairly high and we can manage all booking etc
matters. Which destination would you recommend? All comments welcome.

Could the van situation be solved by each rider giving up a day's riding to act as support driver for the day , obviously complicated insurance issues ?

I haven't visited Beaujolais but once had a great holiday with my wife touring the Loire Chateaux by car. This was 40+ years ago so I can't make specific recommendations other than to say you will find plenty of historic interest, fine wines and food coupled with what should be easy cycling if one follows the river.

About ten years I cycled +/- 120 miles following La Dordogne to Bordeaux. That was a great ride on mainly quiet roads and cycle paths. The final cycle route delivered me straight to Bordeaux railway station. I needed to be there and was mightily relieved when the route almost literally passed the door.

Went with a cycling group to the Loire and it was beautiful. Quiet roads and lovely scenery. Place we stopped at was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The weather was excellent, tarmac smooth and forgiving and all the villages we went through gave us a cheer as we went past. The only snag was there were just six of us and two of the guys went to war every day and four of us were caught in the crossfire. Every ride became a race between the two of them and we just had to keep up as they had the maps. We didn't stop for photo opportunities, only for food breaks. I was glad to get back to blighty. Anyway......the Loire is awesome (with the right people, of course).
