Going to work Friday morning going down the Lancaster to Morecambe cycle path I was riding down a long straight row of silver birch trees ,carpet of leaves on the ground gloom below were I was and looking up the tops of the trees just catching the early dawn light they were just ablaze with yellow and reds high up there ,with no other cyclist or walkers in sight I carried on cycling looking up and for all the world felt I was in a huge cathedral of autumn colour like the colour though stain glass windows , a magic moment no car journey will ever give .

I must admit, I am enjoying the commute rides just now, definitely the best part of my day at the moment for the reasons you describe. Not sure I fully appreciate the carpet of wet leaves though. :eek:

Yep, it’s a nice time of the year.

You all sound like @Littgull, who has been enthusing about the autumn finery on our recent rides together.

I look at the same trees and think ...

WINTER IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cold::unsure::sad:

PS I do think the trees look lovely, but I struggle with winter gloominess.
