A great pub on Hills Road, near the railway station and possibly under threat of being demolished.

The Cambridge Blue is good and Kingston Arms (for superb real ales) both off of Mill Road and for a nice snug pub, try the Elm Tree, near Parkers Piece .

I thought the Flying Pig had a fairly "niche" clientele! Should we really be sending visitors to Cambridge up Mill Road? Far nicer part than that! The Anchor would be a great option if it's sunny.

TC, things may have changed in the passing decades, but "Folk Night at the (W) Anchor " was pretty uncool in the Seventies.
Best avoid.

True- good call (if a little touristy of course!) Another one very near there is The Mill as on a nice day you can wander onto the meadow opposite and sup your pint by the river.

Exactly - Mill road is in South East cambridge in any case, diametrically opposed to TC's locational requirement !
The Anchor or the Mill if sunny are particularly good because of the romance of the river - Mill Road is specifically not one of the delights of Cambridge, although I'm sure there are good local pubs.

I can recomend the St. Radegund In King Street. A quirky little pub with several ales on at a time.
