Hi all

This is the second time I've been out on my road bike so thought I'd time it.

I managed to complete 14 miles in the rain in 52 minutes.

The route was equally flat, incline and decline.

As a new rider, I don't know if this is good or bad? So thought I would ask?

Many thanks

Not bad, just over 15mph
I get around 15-16mph on a hilly route

It's a great start!!! I ride the same kind of speeds and have been cycling a while! I guess it depends on what you want out of cycling:
Having fun - you're on your bike already so probably this one is checked
Getting fit - it looks like you have a base in this category as well (but keep at it! If you were chucking your lungs up at the end then you're gonna need a bit more work...I'll give it to you though if you live on the top of a massive hill as anyone would feel like that at the end of a ride!)
Club runs: I'm not a club man, but hear from people that you wanna be about 18mph average for a decent group
Racing: You've got a fair bit to go...but hey, who am I to say...the only racing I do is to get to the bar first!
Hope you have a lot of fun and enjoy your rides

Thanks for all the information Easytiger, I've always been fairly fit from football so have strong and durable legs.

Haha cheers Phil, keep at it. Like Easytiger says, as long as you enjoy it that's the main thing
