I like the detail of gathering raspberries helping keep her supple for hours on the drops.

It’s a good little film

I know her nephew, & used to run with him, till he emigrated
I’ll forward that to him, thanks

There’s a memorial garden in Morley (south of Leeds, but now essentially a suburb of it)

Yes, l know her 12 hour has been beaten now, but not by much, given 50 years of advances in technology/training/nutrition

BB covered 276 miles, beating the men’s champion that year!
It was broken in 2017, at over 285 miles

If nothing else, it shows just how phenomenal BB was, for 50 years to only add 9 miles :notworthy:

Back in the sixties my pal and I were heading into Richmond for the annual meet when we found ourselves on the same stretch of road as a lady cyclist. We decided to show her how to ride but instead she showed us. Nobody told us it was Beryl Burton

What a great video :bravo:

In 1972 I was a junior soldier at the army apprentices college in Arborfield (Berks) and a member of the college cycling team, racing against other junior army establishments including the one at Harrogate (Yorks). The AAC at Harrogate used to host a 15 mile team time trial and I was part of the winning team that year (we beat the Harrogate team by about 5 seconds) and Beryl was there to hand out the trophies. We'd been out training on the course the day before and she'd steamed past us on her own  She was a lovely person and spent time chatting to all the riders after the event.
